Now I have to wonder if those guys really know who their messing with.

At least the one on the phone seemed surprised Nick wasn't going to sit still for this kind of nonsense.

They might know who they're messing with, but they might not know who they're messing with, if that makes sense.

Like taking Carrot Top's TV and not realizing that Carrot Top is an alien mercenary with a death ray.

The caller seems genuinely taken aback by his speech, well done.

"Taken" has nothing on you with a speech like that :)

Thanks, Muchacho!

I'm glad to hear that ... I almost changed this scene entirely because I knew the comparisons to Taken would be inevitable! :P

Can't he get Neuro to trace the call?

Zomburai
He could get her to at least try! o_o

Obviously, the kidnapper never saw "TAKEN", where Liam Neeson constantly kicked the asses of the people who took his daughter... never, never, NEVER take the loved one of someone who has a very particular set of skills, skills they have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make them a nightmare for people like kidnappers...

As a bonus for longtime readers, here is Nick's particular set of skills:

1. Murder
2. Murder
3. Murder
4. Murder
5. Killing
6. Exterminating
7. Negotiations

As serious as this moment is, I couldn't help but laugh at that last line. How the person just goes, "...uh...yeah, that's scary and all, but...you better go do the thing; bye-bye." XDXD

I read it more like "Shit, that dude's insane. Damn, I hope he doesn't find me... oh wait, he doesn't even know who I am *slowly recovering confidencce* 'uh, well, you don't even know who we are. So. *confidence grows a bit more* 24 hours.' "

That was closer to what I was going for ... but I like KarToon's read, too :P Really, anything to put smiles on faces, 'cause this chapter gets pretty dark.

I feel like he's not entirely human with how his eyes Black out in the final panel ... also I feel like of the team, Nick is the one most capable of fulfilling exactly what he says he will.

Really, if they were smart, they would have fucked with Russell. That dude's a punching bag :P
Kith 12th Nov 2014, 4:35 PM edit delete reply
That is true, though Russel has no idea where this compass thing is, so it wouldn't help them at all to go after him.

@Kith: The fact that he was reading to his wife (dying of old age) while his daughter chases him out because he's not looking a day older than she does, didn't hint to him not being completely human?
Kith 14th Nov 2014, 7:16 AM edit delete reply
Good point ... though what does that make his daughter then?

Theeds 12th Nov 2014, 2:11 PM edit delete reply
Well, they've certainly Taken the wrong person. Now they've got a Die Hard Iron Man, with True Grit and Killer Instinct, all set to organize The Great Escape. And for what? A Fistful of Dollars? The Right Stuff? No, just The Golden Compass. Fat lot of good that will do when the Skyfall(s) down, The Searchers find them, and there they are in The Line of Fire. Then they won't be all Catch Me If You Can, because One False Move, and he'll be there. With a Lethal Weapon. Too.
Kith 12th Nov 2014, 4:37 PM edit delete reply
Hot Damn that is a helluva lot of Movie Titles, I think you just won the internet award for most movies named in a single post that made sense.
